#AlDub sets new record as Vice Ganda concedes defeat to ‘Eat Bulaga’

On October 24, 2015 AlDub, the perennial Twitter trending topic, broke the world record with their hashtag #AlDubEBTamangPanahon for the most number of tweets in 24 hours with 39.4 million tweets.

The FIFA World Cup 2014 qualifier between Brazil and Germany on July 8, 2014 previously held the record for the most number of tweets within a 24-hour period with 35.6 million. Now the fans hoped that the new Philippine record would qualify for the Guinness Book of Records.

The tweets started pouring in earlier in the morning before the show even started, as AlDub nation, the love team’s fans, as well as viewers of the popular kalyeserye took to Twitter. They continued streaming in as fans reacted to the show’s many highlights on social media.

The main event was the climactic meeting between Alden and Yaya Dub, which came after a touching group hug with Lola Nidora. Thousands of fans flocked to the Philippine Arena, with a seating capacity of a little over 50,000, to witness the event in person at the sold-out show.

Meanwhile, popular comedian Vice Ganda has accepted defeat to rival noontime show “Eat Bulaga” during the sixth anniversary show of “It’s Showtime” aired over ABS-CBN on Saturday. He also reminded the fans of “Showtime” and “Bulaga” not to fight with one another on social media.

Vice Ganda also said that “Showtime” would not be cancelled as earlier reported as he reacted to rumors that the show would be cancelled in December 2015.
