Boy singer is ‘PGT’ grand winner

The grand finale of “Pilipinas Got Talent” (PGT) on Sunday saw the emergence of another singer as winner of the reality show’s fourth season.

Roel Manlangit, the youngest grand finalist this season at 13 years old, got 30% of the vote, proving once more that the winning streak of singers is not yet over since the reality show started in 2010. As winner, he took home the P2-million grand prize.

Manlangit was known to show followers as “Boy Whitney” after a video of him singing a Whitney Houston song went viral with more than 2 million views on YouTube. He sang Bamboo’s “Noypi” on the show’s final performance.

The other big winners were dancer Frankendal Fabroa at second place, while the acoustic trio MP3 Band finished third.

PGT judges Kris Aquino, Ai Ai delas Alas and Freddie Garcia have earlier expressed their preference about not having another singer win this year.

To date, there have been four winners which are all singing acts, namely Jovit Baldovino of Season 1, Marcelino Pomoy of Season 2 and the Maasinhon Trio of Season 3
