Celebrities express deep sadness over Robredo’s death

As the body of Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo was recovered Tuesday, August 21, three days after the plane he was in crashed in the sea off Masbate, local celebrities and other personalities expressed their grief and also requested the whole nation for prayers for his loved ones.

In Twitter, Kris Aquino thanked Robredo for being a great public servant. Kris also revealed that Robredo was the favorite mayor of her mom, former President Cory Aquino, because he exemplified simplicity in true public service.

Singer-composer Jim Paredes also tweeted that Robredo’s legacy of selfless service and greatness must live and every Filipino must vow to inspire others. Robredo was among the recipients of the prestigious the Ramon Magsaysay award for good governance.

TV host and national basketball team member Chris Tiu also said Robredo’s life as an upright and selfless public servant should inspire every Filipino.

Hosts Bianca Gonzales hopes that more good hearted public servants like Robredo be elected and appointed into office. Another show host Gabe Mercado shared the same opinion that honest public servants like Robredo must be appointed into office.

Actress Jodi Sta. Maria for her part asked for prayers for Robredo’s family, as well as for the family of the two pilots.

The pilots of the plane, Jessup Bahinting and Nepali Kshitiz Chand, were still being recovered from the plane’s wreckage as of this posting.
