Charice is Guinness youngest winning judge

The latest edition of the Guinness World Records listed Charice as the “youngest winning judge.”

The entry on the famous book of world- records reads,  “Charice (Philippines, b. Charmaine Pempengco, 10 May 1992) was 20 years and 150 days old when she mentored KZ  Tandingan, (b. Kristine Tandingan) to victory in the first season of the X Factor Philippines on 7 October, 2012.”

Charice appeared as mentor-judge at the local “X Factor” franchise shown in ABS-CBN late last year. She was co-judge of the reality talent search together with veteran singers Gary Valenciano, Martin Nievera and Pilita Corrales.

The young singer rose to international through YouTube. Her first international album “Charice” released in 2010  entered the Billboard 200 at number-eight, making Charice the first Asian solo singer in history to land in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 albums chart.

The Guinness recognition for Charice, once dubbed by famous American host Oprah Winfrey as “The Most Talented Girl in the World,” is second record-setting feat from the country to be recognized this year.

In May, the Philippines released 15,185 sky lanterns beating Romania’s record of 12,740.

Last year, the country registered a total of new nice world records.
