Filipino qualifiers to ‘Asia’s Got Talent’ grand finals


Shadow play group El Gamma Penumbra, singers Gerphil Flores and Gwyneth Dorado, and dance group Junior New System will compete in the grand finals of the talent tilt “Asia’s Got Talent” on May 7.

El Gamma Penumbra received their second Golden Buzzer from the judges after performing before an awestruck audience an act promoting world peace and love to Matisyahu’s inspiring song “One Day”

Music student Gerphil Flores also received a Golden Buzzer, and a possible offer from record producer David Foster. Filipino dance crew Junior New System likewise got the judges to press the Golden Buzzer. Another singer, ten-year old singer Gwyneth Dorado qualified to the finals after getting the most number of public votes among the competition’s first batch of semi-finalists.

Other finalists include Gao Lin and Liu Xin (China), Khusugtun (Mongolia) and Triqstar (Japan). The two remaining finalists will be revealed next week.

“Asia’s Got Talent” features some of the region’s most incredible performing artists as they compete to take home the coveted winning title. The celebrity judges are multiple Grammy-winning musician David Foster, UK pop sensation and former Spice Girl Melanie C, Indonesian rock icon Anggun and Taiwanese-American pop idol Van Ness Wu.

The results of the grand finals will be announced on May 14.
