Jennylyn Mercado regards ‘Rhodora X’ a big challenge

Actress Jennylyn Mercado finds playing a character with a split personality quite a challenge.

Jennylyn is essaying the role of a person with Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) in the ongoing GMA-7 drama series “Rhodora X.” The series centers around Rhodora, a woman suffering from DID and how her situation affects all the people around her especially her sister, Angela.

What made the role a big challenge for Jennylyn is that she actually plays “three” roles which are Rhodora Ferrer-Vasquez / Baby – her real personality, Roxanne – her evil alter personality, and Rowena – her childish alter personality who acts like an 8-year-old.

When asked about her love life, Jennylyn, who gained fame as the first Ultimate Female Survivor of season one of GMA Network’s “Starstruck,” maintained that she is currently single. She said she is not ready for a relationship just yet and stressed that she’d rather surround herself with real friends whom she can trust and respect.

The series also features Yasmien Kurdi, who plays Jennylyn’s character’s sister Angela, former ABS-CBN contract star Martin del Rosario who is a new addition to the cast, Boots Anson-Roa as the maternal grandmother of Rhodora and Angela, Mark Herras as Joaquin Vasquez, and Mark Anthony Fernandez as Nico Ledesma.
