Jessica Sanchez fails to impress ‘AI’ judges

Despite Entertainment Weekly’s prediction that Filipino-Mexican-American contestant Jessica Sanchez will win the 11th Season of American Idol, all three AI judges were apparently not impressed with her last performance on the night of March 14.

The US magazine placed the 16-year-old from San Diego, California on top of their American Idol rankings for a second week in a row. Her performance though of the Gloria Estefan hit “Turn the Beat Around” only initiated a string of unsatisfactory comments on the night of March 14.

Rock icon Steven Tyler said Sanchez shouldn’t stray from ballads which she do best.

Pop diva Jennifer Lopez noted that Sanchez’s talent of the musical effect of pulsating change of pitch lagged behind so it lost its energy.

Third judge Randy Jackson, meanwhile, said that Sanchez’ choice of song didn’t allow her to show her big old voice.

The week’s theme was songs from their birth year. Sanchez was born in 1994, the same year when the said song came out.

Last week, Sanchez received praises from the three judges and even got a standing ovation while performing the Whitney Houston hit “I Will Always Love You.”
