‘KathNiel’ takes Vietnam by storm


Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, popularly known as “KathNiel,” recently flew to Vietnam to personally accept individual acting awards at the IMC Face of the Year awards night. The teen stars were named Best Foreign Actress and Best Foreign Actor by Today TV, one of the largest Vietnamese television networks that air series of Filipino soap or dramas. The winners of the awards were based on votes by the Vietnamese viewers.

The Kapamilya love team got the recognition for their performance in the Star Creatives series “Got To Believe.” The show proved to be a big hit among viewers and rated very well on its 7 to 8 p.m. daily primetime slot. The show was one of ABS-CBN’s soaps presented in other Asian countries including Vietnam, Malaysia and Cambodia. Ecstatic Vietnamese fans cheering “KathNiel welcomed the Kapamilya stars during the awarding ceremonies.

Other Filipino actors and actresses have been recognized by the Vietnamese awards show. In 2014, Marian Rivera was awarded as the Best Foreign Artist of the Year for her shows “Marimar”, “Dyesebel” and “Temptation of Wife”, while Jodi Sta. Maria and Richard Yap have also been lauded for their hit show, “Be Careful With My Heart”.
