Kim Chiu stars in her third horror film

Actress Kim Chiu hugs the limelight in her latest work as she gets the lead role in the horror movie “The Ghost Bride.”

The film is her first solo starrer after 11 years in show business and her third movie of it genre after “Shake, Rattle & Roll X” and “The Healing.” For that some showbiz observers has tagged the actress as the new “Horror Queen.” However Kim hesitates to be called as such as she said only her friend Kris Aquino deserves the ‘title.’

Kim plays the role of a woman who is torn between living a difficult life or accepting a strange business proposal called the Ghost Wedding in exchange for wealth and a comfortable life for her loved ones. Kim said being a ghost bride paid to marry a dead person entails sacrifices. But in return, ghost brides are paid well. In Chinese tradition, a ghost marriage is a marriage in which one or both parties are deceased to integrate an unmarried daughter into a patrilineage, to ensure the family line is continued, or to maintain that no younger brother is married before an elder brother.

The film marks the reunion of Kim and Matteo Guidicelli following their TV series “My Binondo Girl” in 2011 and also as their first movie project together. The film is directed by Chito S. Roño and is under the production of Regal Entertainment and Star Cinema.
