Lea Salonga to judge Miss Universe 2011 Pageant

Internationally-acclaimed actress and singer Lea Salonga was named one of the celebrities and experts who will sit as judge at the Miss Universe 2011 Pageant.

According to an official press release from NBC Entertainment, the announcement was made by American tycoon and main pageant organizer Donald Trump and Paula M. Shugart, president of the Miss Universe Organization.

The seven (7) members of the Panel of Judges came from different field to provide different perspective in judging the 89 ladies who vie for the title of Miss Universe 2011.

Salonga, a Best Actress grand slam winner (Tony, Oliver, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Theater World Awards) will be joining racing driver Helios Castroneves, US broadcast legend Connie Chung, Brazilian supermodel Isabeli Fontana , actress and TV producer Vivica Fox, actress Adrienne Maloof, and Miss Universe 2003 Amelia Vega.

Shamcey Supsup, a University of the Philippines-Diliman architecture graduate from General Santos City is the official candidate of the Philippines to the pageant

The Miss Universe 2011 pageant will be held at the Credicard Hall in São Paulo, Brazil on Sept. 13 (Manila time).
