Lovi Poe gets own star alongside FPJ

More than 30 celebrities and personalities were honored during the Walk of Fame’s 6th anniversary in Eastwood City Garden last week,

Actress Lovi Poe got her own star alongside her father, the late Fernando Poe Jr., who was among the first inductees of the Walk of Fame Philippines in 2005.

Other celebrities who were honored include Iza Calzado, Carla Abellana, Marvin Agustin, Joey Albert, Robert Arevalo, Inday Badiday,  Rustica Carpio, Paquito Diaz, Eugene Domingo, Heart Evangelista, Liberty Ilagan, Cocoy Laurel, Ike Lozada, Celeste Legaspi, Pilar Pilapil, Elizabeth Ramsey, Coney Reyes, Caridad Sanchez, Gloria Sevilla, Jessica Sojo, Miko Sotto, Luz Valdez, Carmina Villaroel, Helen Vela and Marita Zobel.

Iza, the daughter of director-choreographer Lito Calzado, said she  dedicates the honor to his father who guided and gave her advice in her personal and professional life. The elder Calzado died of liver cancer last Nov. 11.

For her part, Carla Abellana said she will forever cherish this moment as she shared that her grandmother and parents were very proud of her achievement.

The Walk of Fame Philippines was founded on December 1, 2005, patterned after the Hollywood Walk of the Stars. The   project almost failed to launch due to lack of budget. It was German Moreno the Mr. Showman himself who supported the project by using his connection.

According to Moreno, around 200 Filipino artists have been memorialized at the Eastwood Walk of Fame.
