Maja Salvador measures up to ‘athletic’ role

Actress Maja Salvador measured up to the physical demands of her role as a tomboyish young woman from Ilocos Norte who became a successful athlete.

“Thelma,” played by Salvador, tells the story of a young runner’s dream, passion and determination. Her gift of speed as a track runner opens doors for her to elevate her family’s hard-up situation and change the course of her own life.

Trained by the legendary Filipina athlete Elma Muros (who will play as Thelma’s coach in the film) Salvador gave all her best that required her to run like a true athlete. It was reported that she even had to run barefoot on concrete highways, cross rivers and even on rocky roads.

Meanwhile, Salvador guested on “The Buzz” last Sunday and admitted to host Boy Abunda that she was the reason why her boyfriend Matteo Guidicelli and Coco Martin exchanged blows during the Star Magic Ball held at the Manila Peninsula Saturday night.

Reports say Salvador was allegedly kissed in the lips by Martin that prompted Guidicelli to ignite the fight by strangling Martin in the neck. The latter retaliated and punched Matteo on the face which ended with Matteo’s mouth bruised and bloodied.

“Thelma” is the first full-length feature film production of Time Horizon Pictures and is directed by film and TV-commercial director Paul Soriano.

The movie unfolds Wednesday in theaters nationwide.
