Mariel confirms Robin-Daniel movie collaboration

Robin Padilla’s wife Mariel Rodriguez confirmed that the collaboration movie of his husband with nephew Daniel Padilla will push through.

In a recent interview, Mariel said the upcoming move is titled “Sa Ngalan ng Ama, Ina at ng mga Anak,” which she described as the new generation of Padilla film.

The movie is said to be inspired by the controversial Kuratong Baleleng Gang case in the late 90s and early 2000s. Aside from the Bad Boy of Philippine Cinema and Daniel, the film will also feature other famous Padilla clan members, including Mariel, Bela Padilla, and Robin’s daughter Kylie.

Although Robin’s action film “10,000 Hours” didn’t do well at the box-office, it grabbed most of the major awards in the 39th Metro Manila Film Festival. The movie earned Padilla the Best Actor Award and the Best Supporting Actor and Best Director recognitions for Pen Medina and Joyce Bernal, respectively.

The film was also honored as the Best Picture plum and likewise earned the Best Original Story, and Best Screenplay.

The film’s plot draws inspiration from Senator Ping Lacson’s controversial flight in 2010 as he was about to be arrested over the 2000 Dacer-Corbito murder case.
