Mariel de Leon revealed as Coco Martin’s leading lady in “Panday” movie


Binibining Pilipinas-International Mariel de Leon is set to make her acting debut as the leading lady of Coco Martin in Panday.

Panday is one of the first four approved official entries in the 2017 Metro Manila Film Festival this coming December.

Mariel is daughter of celebrity couple Christopher de Leon and Sandy Andolong.

Martin will play the titular character of Flavio, while also serving as the director thus marking his directorial debut. The film is produce by CCM Creative Productions, his newly-formed company. He will be using his real name, Rodel Nacianceno.

Being eyed for Lizardo, the iconic villain originated by the late Max Alvarado in the four Panday movies, is Arjo Atayde who was impressive as kontrabida in Coco’s Kapamilya starrer FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano which has been extended to 2018. The Lizardo character changes form and Jake Cuenca is being tapped as the character’s alter ego. Also in the cast is Gloria Romero.

The role was first popularized by late actor Fernando Poe Jr.
