‘Parokya ni Edgar’ gets another Gold award

Multi-awarded rock band Parokya ni Edgar added another Gold to their gallery of record awards, this time for the “Middle-Aged Juvenile Novelty Pop Rockers” album, which includes the hits “Pangarap Lang Kita,” “One Hit Combo,” among others.

Undoubtedly one of the most successful bands of this generation, the band was formed in 1993 and originally consisted of vocalists Chito Miranda, Jeric Estaco and Vinci Montaner, and two guitarists, Miko Yap and Gab Chee Kee.

The band gained popularity during the height of the Filipino rock explosion by popularizing original rock novelty songs. Their break came when they performed in an opening number for an Eraserheads concert.

Eventually drummer Dindin Moreno and bassist Buwi Meneses joined the band. Miko and Jeric later withdrew from the group to pursue other interests. Lead guitarist Darius Semaña was later invited to their fold.

The band, now a Universal Records artist, has transcended musical genres ranging from alternative to pock rock and funk to rapcore.
