Sanchez continues winning ways, now part of AI’s Top 8

Filipino-Mexican “American Idol” contestant Jessica Sanchez continues her winning streak as she qualified to the AI’s season 11 Top 8.

As if heeding an earlier advice to stick to ballads, the 16-year-old contended impressed AI judges Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson anew during the show’s Personal Icons night, March 28 (March 29, Manila time).

Jessica performed a slow version of “Sweet Dreams” popularized by her idol R&B singer and former Destiny’s Child member Beyoncé. She also performed with Hollie Cavanagh and Skylar Laine doing a Madonna medley.

AI judge Jennifer Lopez said Jessica did a great job with her beautiful and gorgeous rendition. Aerosmith rocker Steven Tyler described Jessica’s performance delicious and even praised her dress. For his part, Randy Jackson labeled Jessica as sensational because of her great singing talent. He added that she is one of the best singers he’s ever heard in many years.

Many are betting on Sanchez to break the men’s four-year winning streak which will be determined on the show’s finale come May 23.

According to a North American Bureau news report, Judge Jackson has picked Sanchez and Colton Dixon from Nashville as his final two who will vie for the “Idol” crown.
