“Sisterakas’ is highest-grossing Filipino film of all time”

“Sisterakas” now holds the distinction of being the highest-grossing Filipino movie of all time, dethroning the box-office record set by “The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin.”

This was according to the final tally of the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) which showed a total of P342 million for the movie starring Vice Ganda, Kris Aquino and Ai Ai delas Alas.

In comparison, “The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin,” which incidentally also stars Vice Ganda, raked in a total of P331.61 million when screened in 2011.

The award-winning comedian believes that doing a sequel to the movie isn’t a sound proposition. He feels that Filipino moviegoers are always looking for something new and doesn’t like seeing the same film material over and over again.

On her part, Queen of All Media Kris Aquino said the success of their movie has proven that Filipino fans wants something unique every time they watch a movie.

“Sisterakas” is a comedy parody film directed by Wenn V. Deramas and produced by Star Cinema and Viva Films. It was selected as one of the official entries to the 2012 Metro Manila Film Festival.
