The Master Showman Golden Anniversary



German Moreno, also known as Kuya Germs or the Master Showman celebrated his 50th anniversary in show business with the biggest names in the entertainment industry at the Newport Performing Arts Theater, Resorts World Manila on April 24.

A plaque of appreciation was presented to Moreno by GMA President and COO Gilberto Duavit Jr. for his invaluable contributions to GMA Network and the entire Philippine entertainment industry as a performer, producer, and discoverer of Filipino talent.

The golden anniversary of Kuya Germs corresponds with the grand launching of the coffee table book titled Kuya Germs: 50 Years in Showbiz created by GMA Network in honor of Kuya Germs.

Among the numerous guests are Gloria Romero, Susan Roces, Nora Aunor, Sharon Cuneta, Janno Gibbs, Manilyn Reynes, Dawn Zulueta, Raymond Lauchengco, Jackielou Blanco, Rachel Alejandro, Pilita Corrales, Carmen Soriano, Elizabeth Ramsey, Jean Garcia, John Nite, Glaiza De Castro, Tina PanerSheryl Cruz, Keempee De Leon, Dulce, Jessa Zaragosa, Gary Valenciano, Martin Nievera, Pops Fernandez, Jaya, Vina Morales, and David Pomeranz.

The Master Showman became involved in the entertainment industry working as a janitor and telonero (curtain raiser) of Clover Theater. He later went on to pursue a career as a comedian of the bodabil stage and the post-war screen. His biggest break came on television in the late ’70s when he became host of the Sunday noontime variety show, GMA Supershow. He eventually became the host and producer of That’s Entertainment, a youth-oriented variety show.  Currently, Kuya Germs hosting a late-night show entitled Walang Tulugan with the Master Showman on GMA.
